Weird Suicide Puzzles Probers Hermit Opposing Arrest Blasts Self to Bits With Dynamite RIVERSIDE, July 27 UP). The weird suicide of 57-year-old Frank Kritzer, cavern hermit, who blew himself to bits with a 200-pound dynamite blast on the San Bernardino desert rather than submit to arrest, puzzled officers who were still seeking a motive today. Undersheriff Steve Lynch said Kritzer was being questioned last Friday about the disappearance over a six-months period of explosives and gasoline in several desert communities when he told three deputies they would not take him from his underground home alive. Kritzer thereupon connected two wires to a plunger, which set off the dynamite. The blast killed Kritzer and injured Fred Pratt, Harold Simpson and C.

F. McCracken, started a fire that burned for hours, but revealed a hidden cache of firearms and ammunition and 170 pounds of dynamite. Woman Shuns Japs on Ships U. S. Born Wife of Diplomat Locks Self In Cabin LONDON, July 27 (INS.

The American-born wife of a Japanese diplomat, said to have been "too ashamed" to mingle with Japanese on the exchange ship Gripsholm, has locked herself in her cabin and insists on returning to the United States from Lourenco Marques, the Daily Express said today. Mrs. Elizabeth Abiko, 47-year-old wife of Kyuma Abiko, Japanese executive diplomatic secretary, made the trip to Portuguese East Africa with her husband and other Japanese nationals scheduled to be exchanged at Lourenco Marques. But on her arrival, according, to the newspaper, she said flatly she would not continue to Japan, and demanded that she be returned to her native land. U.

S. Consul R. S. Preston indicated that Mrs. Abiko might get her wish.
